Are you looking for the perfect routine to give your body and mind a soothing wellness experience in an infrared cabin?
We have put together a very special infrared sauna protocol for you, with which you will benefit from the power of infrared radiation better than ever before.
What is an infrared sauna protocol?
An infrared sauna protocol is a defined procedure or system that helps you optimally regulate the process of taking a sauna.
Most protocols found online relate to the health and safety of the sauna user.
Especially in commercial establishments, these are often seen as instructions for the user in the infrared cabin, designed to minimize risk for companies from both a legal and moral perspective.
It primarily involves instructions explaining how to use the infrared cabin to achieve better results, whether for relaxation, detoxification, or muscle regeneration.
Another term that encompasses the same desired outcome is an infrared sauna ritual.
What is a sauna ritual?
A sauna ritual is a sequence of actions performed in a specific order, thus serving as a kind of operating manual for the infrared cabin for the user.
Although a sauna protocol and a sauna ritual are often the same, neither has a truly generally defined meaning or a fixed sequence of rules.
A difference between the two could be that a sauna protocol contains a set of guidelines established in a commercial context, such as:
- What should one wear in the sauna?
- How hot should a sauna be?
- How long should I stay in a sauna?
- How much should I drink after the sauna?
- Can I take a sauna daily?
You must answer these questions to comply with the regulations of the respective infrared sauna.
A sauna ritual, on the other hand, is much more personal and could be defined as a specific sequence of actions that you enjoy either before, during, or after a sauna session, enhancing your experience.
For some, this ritual almost has a ceremonial value and leads to a precise routine.
This terminology is also open to interpretation. At Clearlight, we use a combination of both meanings for a sauna protocol and a sauna ritual.
The Clearlight Sauna Protocol for even more wellness
At Clearlight, we have access to the world's best scientific sources when it comes to saunas and the technology surrounding infrared cabins.
Our infrared sauna protocols are based on clinical studies and are therefore thoroughly researched and tested.
Since there are already numerous rituals and protocols surrounding conventional infrared cabins, today we want to introduce you to a very special infrared sauna.
The Clearlight Dome is a mobile infrared sauna. Before we discuss the optimal routine for enhanced stress reduction through the use of the Dome sauna, let's first explain all the important facts about this mobile infrared cabin.
What exactly is the Clearlight Dome?
The portable Dome Sauna by Clearlight is one of the easiest ways to enjoy the many physiological benefits of an infrared cabin in a small, practical, and affordable package at home.
Instead of sitting as usual, this product allows you to enjoy infrared heat while lying down.
You lie on the comfortable memory foam mattress, which is enveloped by our two patented True Wave™ infrared emitters.
These emitters use True Wave™ far-infrared heating elements with the lowest EMF and ELF exposure on the market.
The portable infrared cabin is made from environmentally certified materials and consists of 100% organic hemp fabric.
Thanks to its compact design, the mobile sauna is also very easy to set up, take down, and store. Of course, like all Clearlight infrared cabins, this product also comes with a lifetime warranty.
Is a portable infrared sauna even worth it?
The design of Clearlight's mobile infrared cabin appeals to people who have a lower tolerance for hot environments.
In the Clearlight Dome, your neck and head are comfortably outside the infrared sauna, allowing your body to regulate its core temperature more effectively and allowing you to enjoy the health benefits of an infrared sauna for even longer.
For this reason, even our larger saunas, such as the Sanctuary infrared cabins, are designed so that the infrared emitters are directed at the chest and the rest of the body, and not so much at the head.
This is not only more efficient but also more pleasant for all users, as it reduces direct radiation to the head.
Apart from that, it is especially worthwhile to buy the mobile sauna if there is not enough space in your home for an infrared cabin.
The Dome infrared sauna is a practical wellness addition to your home that is ready for use within minutes. The product can also be stored away just as quickly and thus takes up hardly any space.
In fact, the components can be stored so compactly that the mobile infrared cabin takes up no more space than a chair.
What are the benefits of the Clearlight Dome?
There are a number of benefits when your head is not as strongly affected by the infrared heat.
As we have already mentioned, the design of the portable infrared cabin allows for more effective body temperature regulation and offers the sauna experience in a much more adaptable and flexible design.
People with low heat tolerance can often only spend a few minutes in a conventional sauna. The mobile infrared sauna, however, allows these same people to relax comfortably for up to 30 minutes.
Cooling the head is also a common form of Ayurvedic treatment, especially found in the Takradhara practice.
The simultaneous warming of the body and cooling of the head are said to stimulate the endocrine system and promote blood circulation to the brain.
In addition to this interesting fact and the space-saving design, the portable infrared sauna offers the advantage of being affordable for a smaller budget.
We know that not everyone has the budget or space in their home to buy a built-in infrared sauna.
Nevertheless, we want no one to have to forgo this luxury. That's why we developed the Dome sauna.
This makes the health benefits of an infrared sauna accessible to more people.
Are the health benefits of the Clearlight Dome the same as those of other infrared cabins?
Just because your head is not covered by the infrared sauna does not mean that the potential health benefits for regular users are less significant than in larger infrared cabins.
After all, a large part of your body also absorbs heat energy in the mobile Dome sauna.
Numerous studies have shown that infrared heat is an effective means of treating skin conditions, alleviating muscle pain, arthritis, and other rheumatic diseases, as well as detoxifying our bodies, strengthening our immune system, supporting weight loss, and reducing cellulite.
Thus, the Clearlight Dome is in no way inferior to the other infrared cabins in the range.
The Infrared Sauna Protocol for the Clearlight Dome
This sauna protocol was developed to promote relaxation, reduce emotional stressors, and balance your mood and emotional state.
Before you begin, you will need:
- a clean and quiet room
- at least one hour of free time
- the Clearlight Dome Infrared Sauna
- speakers or headphones for music
- herbal tea
- shower or bath
- a cloth or towel
- essential oils
Step-by-step to more relaxation
It is important that you make time and space for this special ritual so that your body can heal. Follow these steps for an optimal wellness experience:
- Create a calm ambiance.
Create an environment free from all distractions by turning off all electronic devices.
Your Dome infrared sauna should not be near WiFi routers or areas with high EMF exposure.
- Play background music.
Choose music that soothes your emotions and improves your mood. We recommend, for example, this track.
- Preheat the infrared sauna.
This usually takes about 15 minutes and gives you time to complete steps 4 through 7 of the ritual.
- Make sure you are hydrated.
You should meticulously ensure that you have drunk enough water before your sauna session.
Adhere to the recommended standard amount of 3.7 liters for men and 2.7 liters for women per day.
In addition, you should place a glass of water next to your sauna dome so you can drink during use if necessary.
- Soak your wet cloth in cold water and add some essential oils.
Lavender is particularly suitable for this step. But any other high-quality essential oil can also enhance the wellness experience.
Place or hang the cloth next to your mobile infrared sauna.
- Drink a warm herbal tea or Ayurvedic tea.
After creating a safe, calm, stress-free zone, you can enjoy a relaxing tea in this space.
Peppermint tea, in particular, contributes to relaxation. The tea helps to increase body temperature. Certain herbs also stimulate the digestive tract to support detoxification.
- Take a 2-minute hot shower.
A hot shower has 2 functions:
- It helps to raise your core temperature, especially on colder days, so your body can dilate blood vessels faster.
- It also cleanses your skin and pores of chemicals and toxins before they begin to open.
The cleaner the skin, the better the detoxification process works.
- Enter the sauna dome.
It is best to use the mobile infrared cabin without clothing so that your body can regulate the temperature most effectively, you sweat and detoxify faster, and absorb the infrared wavelengths.
- Place the cloth on your forehead.
You can now place the damp, fragrant cloth from earlier on your forehead. This helps your body regulate temperature. In addition, the soothing scent provides more relaxation.
- Close your eyes and focus on your breathing.
Inhale through your nose. You should first fill your abdomen and then your chest with air. Exhale through your mouth, emptying your abdomen first and then your chest.
Focus on this for as long as possible, ideally a few minutes.
- Repeat a mantra to maintain your concentration (about 5 minutes).
This can be, for example, a mantra from a meditation session. You are welcome to say this aloud.
If you don't have a mantra, we recommend saying some affirmations about yourself or simply listing the things you are grateful for.
- Visualize the stress points.
As your thoughts drift, try to refocus on how your body feels.
Try to feel stress, pain, or tension in your body. Imagine your blood flowing to these stress points and working there.
You should not associate these feelings with terms like pain or stress, but simply observe their presence.
- Repeat steps 10 to 12.
Repeat focusing on breathing, your mantra, and visualizing your stress points at least 3 times. This can take between 15 and 35 minutes. back
If you lose track of time, that's okay. Just listen to your body. If you notice that the heat is becoming too much, end the ritual.
- Then take a cold shower (if tolerated).
Take your time when leaving the infrared sauna and, if necessary, drink water before getting up.
Pat yourself dry with a towel. Now you can take a hot or warm shower. After about 30 seconds, you should turn the water temperature as cold as possible.
The cold shower flushes all the blood that has collected toxins from the body's surface through the liver and kidneys, where further detoxification takes place.
- Hydrate your body.
Once you are dry, return to your distraction-free, relaxing environment.
Drink either room-temperature water or tea. It is important that you take enough time to rest, enjoy your drink, and give your body enough hydration.
With this infrared sauna protocol, you can enjoy all the benefits of your portable infrared sauna. You are doing something good not only for your body but also for your mind.
