FAQs

Can I put my infrared sauna outdoors?

Our infrared cabins should not be placed outdoors for 2 reasons:
1. The infrared emitters cannot reach the desired cabin temperatures outdoors due to the colder environment.
2. The indoor infrared cabins are not designed for outdoor weather conditions, so weather-related damage to the structure is not covered by our limited lifetime warranty.

How do our Clearlight® Infrared Saunas differ from other infrared saunas?

Our Clearlight® infrared cabins are the only infrared saunas developed by a doctor. Dr. Raleigh Duncan has dedicated more than 20 years to researching and developing technologies designed to heal the human body, and even longer to researching infrared therapy and its benefits.

Our many years of experience in manufacturing infrared saunas are incorporated into every Clearlight® infrared cabin. Our research and development department constantly researches and tests new components for your infrared sauna, so that when you purchase a Clearlight® infrared cabin, you are acquiring the highest quality and most therapeutic infrared sauna on the market.

With our lifetime warranty for home use, we stand behind our infrared cabins. This warranty covers the entire infrared sauna:
The wooden cabin, the heaters, the controls, and even the audio system. We will still be here for you next year and in five years if you need spare parts or have questions about the proper use of your infrared sauna. We believe that with our lifetime warranty for our customers, we ensure that we build a high-quality infrared sauna that will last. This influences every production decision, as we know that we will support you and your infrared cabin for many years to come.

What are the EMF levels in this Clearlight® infrared sauna?

Electromagnetic radiation and electric fields are of central importance – not only in infrared saunas!
10 years ago, we began manufacturing heaters with the lowest possible EMF values. Over time, we have pioneered in this area and can proudly say that the EMF (and ELF) values are probably the lowest on the market. In measurements taken directly at the infrared emitters, the highest EMF value we could measure was 1.5 mG, which is well below the WHO limit (3 mG). If you move just a few centimetres away, this value literally drops to 0.

In addition to inventing our True Wave II infrared emitters, we also use shielded cables, lay multiple ground wires, and have designed the infrared sauna to minimise EMF and ELF exposure. Measurements taken at the two powerful full-spectrum emitters (only in the Sanctuary and Outdoor infrared saunas) at the front show a maximum of 7-8mG. At a distance of just 10 cm, the values drop to 0. Since EMF decreases with distance, no EMF is measurable where you are sitting.

How will my Clearlight infrared sauna be shipped, and will it be delivered to my home?

Your new Clearlight® infrared sauna will usually arrive at your home within 4 - 7 days of leaving our warehouse, provided the sauna is in stock. As part of our commitment to exceptional customer service, we deliver every Clearlight® infrared sauna with some additional services: Our carrier will call you to schedule a delivery appointment for your infrared sauna. Your infrared sauna will be delivered on a truck with a liftgate to ensure that any possibility of freight damage is minimized. Please note that the driver will deliver the pallet curbside and will not bring it to or into the house

Before accepting and signing for the delivery, carefully inspect the pallet for completeness and integrity.

In case of visible damage, you should accept the delivery but insist that it be noted on the delivery receipt. Remove the boxes from the pallet, carefully unpack each box, and begin installation according to the included instructions. Installation takes between one and three hours, depending on the model and size.

Is it easy to assemble and disassemble?

Setting up your Clearlight® Infrared Sauna is quick and easy. Typically, two people will need approximately one to three hours to assemble the infrared sauna. No tools are required for the entire assembly, apart from a standard screwdriver for the door handle. An Allen key is supplied for assembling the glass parts of the Sanctuary Infrared Sauna.
Your Clearlight® Infrared Sauna is pre-wired and manufactured with artisan precision, ensuring effortless assembly. We build your Clearlight® Infrared Sauna in our factory, and each cabin is built and tested to ensure it meets our stringent quality control standards. We then disassemble it, pack it, and ship it to you. You will also receive detailed printed instructions with the sauna, and our support team will be happy to assist you by phone, email, etc. We can also arrange installation for you. Disassembly is also simple.

How long is the warranty, and what does it cover?

When buying an infrared sauna, it is important to understand why a lifetime warranty on the entire infrared cabin is important.
Our lifetime warranty covers all parts and components of your cabin for manufacturing defects, as long as you own it as the original purchaser. Almost every other infrared sauna only has a 2-year or maximum 5-year warranty.
For example, if something goes wrong with your infrared cabin after 8 years, the manufacturer is not obliged to provide spare parts for the infrared sauna.
All Clearlight® infrared cabins installed for home use are covered by our lifetime warranty. When looking for infrared saunas, make sure that the company offers a genuine lifetime warranty. If you use your infrared cabin in a commercial environment, we offer a full 5-year warranty.

How does an infrared sauna work?

The idea behind the infrared sauna is to heat your body directly with infrared heat. In a conventional sauna, you only sit in a hot room at 80-105°C. In an infrared sauna, the heat directly warms your body and only 20% of the heat warms the air. You want to raise your core body temperature. Your body absorbs the infrared heat and reacts to it.
The gentle infrared heat increases your core body temperature and stimulates your metabolism, lymphatic system, immune system, and cardiovascular system. Your body reacts to this by sweating heavily.
Infrared heat not only triggers sweating, but the water in our body also vibrates at the frequency of the chosen infrared, which also supports the detoxification process. Now you understand why we emphasize how important it is to have 360° heat surrounding you in an infrared sauna. If you don't have heaters at the front of your sauna, your core body temperature won't be raised as much, and you won't get as much of the desired effect.

All our Clearlight® infrared saunas have heating elements all around you: at the front, back, sides, calves, and legs. We call this 360° heat.

Is infrared safe?

Infrared heat is completely safe, and all objects emit and receive infrared heat. It is so safe, in fact, that hospitals use similar emitters to warm newborn babies. Infrared is a part of nature and is essential for life. The human body emits and receives infrared in the far infrared band. When a mother rubs her baby's tummy to relieve pain, it is the infrared heat from her hand that provides the healing effect. We have tuned our True Wave heaters to emit far infrared rays in this band for maximum absorption by the body and greatest therapeutic benefit.

Which infrared heater is best?

Far Infrared Heaters

When comparing far infrared heaters, you need to consider the size of the heater, the material that generates the infrared heat, the quality of the heat, and the surface temperature of the heater. The two most commonly used materials for infrared emitters are ceramic and carbon.

Ceramic is a highly conductive material that can be heated to extremely high temperatures. Ceramic has a very high emissivity, which means it generates a lot of infrared heat. The disadvantage of ceramic as a heater material is that it tends to produce a shorter infrared wavelength. Shorter infrared wavelengths are not as easily absorbed by the human body and are therefore less suitable for infrared saunas.

In general, carbon infrared emitters produce a longer infrared wavelength. Carbon is very light, so the emitters can be larger and operate at a lower surface temperature. These low surface temperatures generate long-wave infrared heat. Long-wave infrared heat tends to be in the far infrared range (also known as Type C range). Due to its similarity to the human "frequency" (i.e., the frequency at which we emit and absorb heat), this infrared is more easily absorbed and leads to better results. The disadvantage of carbon emitters is that while they produce high-quality infrared heat, they don't produce very much infrared—they are weaker in terms of infrared intensity. Technically, they have a lower emissivity than ceramic emitters.

Most companies that use carbon infrared emitters extend their heaters up to head height and almost to the ceiling of the cabin to try to get more heat into the sauna. They do this because of the lower output of the emitters. This is wasted infrared heat (and wasted electricity) as it only heats the air overhead and not the body directly. Furthermore, we believe that direct heating of the head is not recommended in an infrared sauna.

Our True Wave™ infrared emitters are the only infrared emitters that combine both carbon and ceramic in one emitter, providing a truly exceptional infrared sauna experience. We developed these specifically for heating the human body. Our patented True Wave™ infrared emitters produce the long-wave infrared heat of a carbon emitter with the very high infrared output of a ceramic emitter, combined in a single emitter. It truly is the best of both worlds, and they are fantastic infrared emitters.

After just a few seconds in a Clearlight® infrared cabin, you can feel the difference in the quality of the infrared heat. You won't find this heating technology anywhere else. It is exclusive to Clearlight® infrared cabins.

Full Spectrum Infrared Emitters

A full spectrum infrared emitter radiates all three infrared wavelengths:
Near (IR-A), mid (IR-B), and far infrared (IR-C). Some infrared saunas offer a combination of emitters to generate full spectrum infrared heat.

Clearlight® Sanctuary infrared cabins use halogen full spectrum emitters. We have built the halogen bulbs to our specific wavelengths and standards. Our True Wave™ full spectrum infrared emitters radiate approximately 1/3 near infrared, 1/3 mid infrared, and 1/3 far infrared, and each emitter delivers a full 500 watts of full spectrum infrared heat. By offering all three wavelengths, the infrared heat penetrates deeper through the epidermis and dermis into the subcutaneous layer, providing maximum effectiveness—for true deep heat.

Do I get consistent heat from my Clearlight® Infrared Sauna?

Yes. The ideal way to use a Clearlight® Infrared Sauna is to have the infrared heaters on the entire time, producing the optimum infrared heat you desire.
Infrared heat is most effective at lower temperatures because sweat oils are secreted at lower temperatures, and this sweat is different from water sweat. Your Clearlight® Infrared Sauna is designed to heat your body more than the sauna cabin (approximately 80% of the heat warms your body, and 20% of the heat warms the sauna cabin). Don't be fooled by other manufacturers who offer constant infrared heat by reducing the power of their heaters. At reduced power, you will not get optimal infrared heat.

What is the optimal wavelength for an infrared sauna?

The infrared frequency of an infrared heater is determined by the surface temperature of the heater. The lower the surface temperature of the heater, the longer the infrared wave and the greater the effect of the infrared heat.
Our large True Wave II™ infrared heaters operate at an optimal surface temperature and produce exceptionally high-quality far infrared heat. This means that our heaters produce the majority of infrared heat in the important wavelength range of 5 to 15 microns, with a large proportion of wavelengths at 9.4, the optimal absorption range for far infrared by the human body.
Only Clearlight® Infrared True Wave II infrared heaters combine the high infrared output of ceramic with long-wave carbon infrared heat, making them the most effective infrared heaters on the market. You will only find this patented combination in Clearlight® infrared saunas.
